Case Study
Project overview
Five plus two artworks on two spectacular buildings in Qatar: the Ministry of Interior and the National Archive. 205 people worked on the study, preparation and execution of the project: video artists, video programmers, IT specialists and audio specialists working together with the production team.
The task: create a large-scale video mapping installation for public entertainment, providing a full solution including all video and audio content, hardware and expertise, with shows running daily for four weeks.
The Ministry of Interior installation used 40 latest-generation 32k and 40k lumen 4K projectors, creating a total of 14,080,000 lux and an addressable resolution of 369 million pixels on a 160 m × 60 m building.
Five L-Acoustics line array systems produced more than 120 dB at a distance of 200 metres, across the busy street in front of the Ministry.
For full redundancy, all projectors were installed in custom air-conditioned projection containers, and all power installations, projectors and servers were set up redundantly to ensure safe operation. Visitors enjoyed the shows from the park across the street every day from dusk until midnight.
